Rennie of Stalco elected VP of NAWIC chapter 240

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Greater New York and Long Island chapter 240 elected Stalco Construction, Inc.'s project manager Jennifer AG Rennie as 2009 chapter VP. Rennie, a 2003 Summa Cum Laude Purdue University civil engineering graduate, served as NAWIC chapter 240 member of the board in 2008 and 2009. She will assist NAWIC chapter 240's 2009 president, Laura Bush of Bovis Land Lease, in managing the chapter's programs, events, marketing, and administrative activities. Rennie said, "I am honored by the recognition and trust of my fellow NAWIC members. I will focus on developing programs aimed at attracting high school and college students to careers in construction, engineering, architecture, and real estate. I will also concentrate on supporting careers of women in the building industry and providing assistance to unemployed female professionals and tradeswomen." Rennie works as project manager at Stalco Construction. Her construction experience encompasses numerous commercial, medical, hotel, and educational facilities, including interior renovations at CA, Inc. Global Headquarters in Islandia; a five-story addition to Intermediary School 201 in Brooklyn; and other ground-up, base building, and heavy construction projects. Rennie is a supporter of Contractors for Kids (CFK), a non-profit organization founded by Stalco in 2005, which lists more than 300 real estate and AEC firms as members. The organization financially supports families impacted by serious childhood illnesses. CFK offers assistance in paying for medical care, transportation to out-of-state hospitals, mortgages for families that can't afford the payments due to healthcare expenses, and funeral expenses. To date, the organization has raised nearly $2 million and helped more than 150 families. Rennie is also a co-organizer of popular industry events, including the quarterly Stalco Long Island Real Estate Movers & Shakers and a recent presentation on the federal stimulus funding for real estate and infrastructure projects, co-organized with UPworld.com and AIA N.Y. president Sherida Paulsen.
