AmTrust RE inks 9,397 s/f lease with Access Justice Brooklyn

203 Jay Street - Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn, NY AmTrust RE completed a 9,397 s/f lease with Access Justice Brooklyn at 203 Jay St., an eight-story, 72,000 s/f mixed-use property at the nexus of DUMBO, Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights. Bert Rosenblatt of Cresa represented the tenant, while the landlord was represented by AmTrust’s Anne Holker and the CBRE team of Brad Gerla, Michael Rizzo and Alex Benisatto.

“Our office property at 203 Jay St. was built with modern, high-quality amenities designed to meet the demands of today’s tenants, and the lease with Access Justice Brooklyn highlights our ability to continue attracting prominent companies and nonprofits,” said Jonathan Bennett, president of AmTrust RE. “Along with our other recent leasing activity at the property, this is a direct reflection of growing demand for quality office space in the Brooklyn submarket. The organization’s legal advocacy work is of vital importance to the community, and we’re proud to add them to our tenant base at 203 Jay.”

Access Justice Brooklyn is a community-focused nonprofit organization that offers free high-quality civil legal services for marginalized communities across Brooklyn, in partnership with mission-driven, pro-bono attorneys and cross industry professionals, Access Justice Brooklyn helps to facilitate equitable access to the legal system.

“For over 34 years, as legal advocates of our community, Access Justice Brooklyn (AJB) has helped remove systemic barriers that get between people and fair outcomes by providing practical, effective services for thousands of Brooklynites. Driven by the evolving legal needs of our neighbors and guided by our dedicated board of directors, AJB has strategically grown in the depth of our holistic programming, staff capacity, volunteer engagement, and budget as a result of diversified support and committed stakeholders,” said Heidi Lee Henderson, president & CEO, Access Justice Brooklyn.

Added Henderson: “Our office relocation to 203 Jay St. not only marks a significant moment in AJB’s lifecycle but further illustrates the pivotal role the organization plays in ensuring a more accessible legal system and equitable Brooklyn. We look forward to welcoming our staff, community members, volunteers, partners, donors, and friends to 203 Jay St.; an office space designed with intention, representing our shared values: access, change, compassion, fairness, resilience, and respect.”

Located in downtown Brooklyn, 203 Jay St. features amenities including a gym, roof-top terrace, and floor-to-ceiling windows at all corners of the property. When it commences occupancy in December, Access Justice Brooklyn will join a list of notable tenants at the property, including Paycom, Morgan & Morgan, and Life Stance Health.

“203 Jay St. has seen a significant volume of leasing activity in the past few years, and Access Justice Brooklyn is an exciting new addition to the building. The continued tenant interest in the property’s office space serves as a testament to the high quality of the building and ownership, as well as its unmatched location between DUMBO and downtown Brooklyn,” said Gerla.

The office building also features access to The Amberly — an adjoining 33-story, 270-unit luxury residential property — which offers its own suite of amenities including views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skyline.
