6-6-2013 - NEW to host 2013 Equity Leadership Awards Luncheon

Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) will host its 2013 Equity Leadership Awards Luncheon on Thursday, June 6th, 2013 at the New York Hilton. This year's luncheon will honor key industry leaders, celebrate NEW's Signature Projects and mark the 35th Anniversary of the organization. Each year NEW honors industry leaders, labor leaders and tradeswomen who are actively involved in changing the face of New York's workforce by increasing the number of women in the trades. The luncheon will also highlight NEW Signature Projects throughout the city that have employed NEW graduates over the past year. The NEW Signature Projects program was launched at the 2010 NEW Equity Leadership Awards Luncheon. The program aims to increase the utilization of tradeswomen on New York City construction projects, ensure that an adequate supply of skilled tradeswomen are prepared for the demands of the industry, and help industry partners adopt best practices. This year NEW will recognize: * Robert Bonanza, business manager, Mason Tenders District Council of Greater New York; * Mary-Jean Eastman, principal, director and founding partner, Perkins Eastman Architects. * Joan McDonald, Commissioner, New York State Department of Transportation * Tanya Ridley, Metallic Lathers and NEW Graduate, Local 46 Metallic Lathers and Reinforcing Ironworkers Union For more information about the luncheon or to purchase tickets, please visit www.new-nyc.org.
