TerraCRG names Marks as new CEO

Dan Marks

Brooklyn, NY TerraCRG has promoted Dan Marks to CEO. Marks has been with TerraCRG for over 12 years. Since being appointed as partner of the firm in 2016, he has worked closely with founder Ofer Cohen, leading the firm to its market leadership position.

Cohen founded the firm in 2008 and will transition to the role of chairman. He led the company for 16 years as CEO, starting from the Great Recession, through a Global Pandemic all while maintaining a strong voice for Brooklyn within the real estate industry and in civic circles. Marks and Cohen along with their dedicated team have been continuously serving as trusted advisors to long term property owners, family offices and institutions including ExxonMobil, Two Trees, Prologis, PMG, and more.

The company’s civic and philanthropic work has been an anchor in the team’s commitment to Brooklyn. Until most recently – Marks was the board vice chair of both the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) and Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT).

Originally from Glenview, IL, Marks came to Brooklyn via Boulder, Colorado joining as an associate broker at the end of 2011. Because of his passion for Brooklyn commercial real estate and his tireless commitment to his clients and teammates, he was elevated to partner in 2016. While embracing his new role as CEO, Marks will continue to serve all the firm’s clients and remain a key member of institutional level transactions.

“The firm I started sixteen years ago is getting strengthened with a new wave of leadership,” said Cohen. “This is the natural evolution of our company, and I am so fortunate to have several partners that have been with me for over a decade. I am proud of everything that Dan Marks has accomplished and thrilled that he is stepping up to the CEO role. His commitment and loyalty to Brooklyn and the firm enables our client base to benefit from his deep level of expertise and consistent coverage of the market.”

While many brokerages have recently downsized or shuttered, TerraCRG is proudly celebrating over 16 years in business and is looking to expand its footprint in Brooklyn. The privately-owned firm is annually recognized as a Top Firm and Power Broker by CoStar.

Mark’s first big task at hand as CEO is to leverage the firm’s Brooklyn expertise and expand the firm’s market share by strategically hiring and increasing coverage in all parts of Brooklyn. Marks is charging the firm’s ambitious goals to bring on over 15 new agents this year.

“While market uncertainty is causing a pause for some of our competitors, our agile, consistent and focused approach enables us to take advantage of these conditions and expand our market share,” said Marks. “With $5 billion worth of transactions in Brooklyn a year in a down market, this remains the most exciting city in America to practice real estate. We will continue to support all members of our team to provide them with the best platform and support to succeed in the Brooklyn market and most importantly to ensure our clients receive the institutional level advisory service they have come to expect from TerraCRG.”

The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
