Shoppers revel in abundant retail options across the city

Manhattan's ever-changing shopping landscape, from Madison Ave. to the Financial District, makes even the most discerning diva swoon. Join me on a neighborhood tour, detailing the latest retail news. On Madison Ave., modern Chinese lifestyle brand Shanghai Tang moves to 600 Madison, opening this spring. Judith Ripka, located at 673 Madison on the Jewel Coast, is planning a grand renovation and expansion. Ralph Lauren will transform the Gold Coast with a complete redesign of its 888 Madison Ave. boutique on the southwest corner of 72nd St. and will wrap the corner into the townhouse. During construction, this "crown jewel" of Madison Ave. will be situated in temporary quarters at Madison and 80th St.  French clothier Arthur has taken 922 Madison Ave., formerly occupied by Fresh. J. Crew Collection is coming to 1035 Madison Ave., featuring high end, limited edition pieces. Jacadi signed for an expansive corner location at Madison and 89th St. Tracey Feith will have her first store out of Soho at Madison and 93rd Street. On Fifth Ave., when Gucci makes its highly anticipated move to Trump Tower, Diesel will open a sixth Manhattan store at the tony corner of 54th St. and 5th Ave. Louis Vuitton's 57th St. Palace will expand into the building adjacent for another four floor emporium. Juicy Couture will replace Mexx at Fifth Ave. and 52nd St. any day now. Free People has liberated space at 79 Fifth Ave. Along the 57th St. corridor, Christian Lacroix's splashy debut at 36 East 57th St. brought about a barrage of fanfare. On the Upper East Side, in Bloomie's Country, Dylan's Candy Bar is answering to the demands of the posh sweet tooth-its 1011 Third Ave. location will expand in both width and height. Janet Sartin is relocating her spa from Park Ave. to 875 Third Ave. J. F. Lazartique showcases his world-renowned boutique hair salon at 799 Lexington Ave. Farther north, Threads Baby Clothing and gifts advances a concept of premium service at 1451 Second Ave. On the Upper West Side, Scoop, "the ultimate closet" for trendsetters, will take the former Reebok store at 160 Columbus Ave., at West 67th St. Another expansion by Apple is in the works, as 1981 Broadway-currently Victoria's Secret-is prepared to host the next super-sized outpost. In the East Village, New Zealand designer Karen Walker has a pop-up space within Den, 330 East 11th St., following an impressive roster of past exhibited designers Cheap Monday, Rag & Bone and Tim Hamilton. In Times Sq., American Eagle will spread out over four mega floors at 1551 Broadway. In Chelsea, 55 West 25th St. will host Gracious Home, so that design-obsessed shoppers can outfit their residences with the most luxurious accoutrements. In Soho, Hugo Boss may be leaving Fifth Ave., but will unveil splendid space at 555 Broadway between Prince and Spring Sts. Italian accessories company Braccialini will quickly become a favorite in its new 436 West Broadway shop. Munich-based Bogner will set up at 380 West Broadway, positioned between Downtown Cipriani and Te Casan and across the street from Ralph Lauren and Anthropologie. Grom designer gelato will tempt our taste buds at 233 Bleecker St. Topshop Soho will be at 478 Broadway, while MNG by Mango has also joined the fast fashion race at 561 Broadway. Muji also opened on Lower Broadway. In NoHo, Brooklyn boutique OAK has emerged from the Williamsburg-Park Slope neighborhoods to 28 Bond St. between Lafayette St. and the Bowery. In the Meatpacking District, Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto's shop will debut at One Gansevoort St. That same day, just across the street, he will launch Y-3 sportswear, his new collaboration with Adidas. No doubt biggest news in the district is the Apple Store at 401 West 14th St. and 9th Ave., one block south of Chelsea Market. Hugo Boss is also rumored to be taking space adjacent to Apple. Adam, the eponymous line by rising designer Adam Lippes, formerly of Oscar de la Renta, offers formidable sportswear at 678 Hudson St. Happy Shopping!
