Newman named executive managing director of Handler Real Estate Org.

Handler Real Estate Org. has hired Peter Newman as executive managing director. Newman will serve clients as well as assist in growing the firm's expanding brokerage team. Previously a director with Newmark Knight Frank, he has arranged more than 2 million s/f of deals throughout his 20-year career, with a value exceeding $2 billion, representing landlords and tenants throughout the city. Among his career highlights, Newman was part of the leasing team at 270 Madison Ave. for Orix Management, Emigrant Savings Bank for its headquarters building at 6 East 43rd St., and leased up 140 East 45th St. (aka 1 Grand Central Plaza). Newman also was part of the leasing team for 260 and 261 Madison Ave., 100 Church St., 90 William St., 90 John St., 55 John St. and 17 Battery Place South. He is now the agent for 263 West 38th St., Handler's 170,000 s/f commercial and retail building located between Seventh and Eighth Aves. As a tenant rep specialist, Newman has arranged key transactions for tenants such as Interactive Futures, American Kennel Club, AFTRA, AFLAC, among many others.
