Bands of Marcus & Millichap passes away at age 75

New York, NY Sharon Perkins Bands, age 75, of Palm Beach, Florida and Quogue, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19 at her Florida home after a valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. Bands was born in Denver, Colorado of the late Gordon and Gladys Perkins and is the oldest of two children. She relocated to New York in the early 1960’s as a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines (TWA). Later, she commenced what would become a notable, successful career in investment Real Estate and became one of the premier, most accomplished brokers in the industry. A 30-year industry veteran, Bands joined Marcus & Millichap’s Manhattan Office in March 2000 and played an instrumental role in growing what was then a young office. She achieved multiple national awards and became first vice president and senior director of the firm’s National Retail Group through her successful career. She was known as a premier shopping center expert in the Northeast. By her business associates, Bands is recognized as an audacious, pioneering woman in the field of commercial real estate and an important role model for young business women. By her friends, she will be remembered for her joy of life, love of travel, fine food, theater, parties, dancing, boating, the beach, and laughter. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bands, life partner Allen Willinsky, brother David Perkins, and grandchildren Sofia and Jack Brixius.
