Adler Windows launches coat drive for homeless in NYC

Manhattan, NY Adler Windows has partnered with New York Cares to collect and donate coats to the homeless of New York City, under their newly launched campaign Adler Windows Keeping New York Warm.

The partnership was inspired by the daughter of Adler Windows president, Ross Adler. “When my eldest daughter Annabelle was two years old she asked me what did I do? I told her ‘Daddy sells windows.’ When Annabelle turned three, she asked me a very poignant question, she asked why I sold windows and I told her, ‘to keep people warm.’ The idea quickly developed into a partnership that as a company we had been wanting to enter into for some time.” said Ross.

New York Cares has collected and donated over 1.7 million coats since it began its coat drive in 1989. As of this year Adler Windows will donate one coat for every one project they complete during the 12 months from October to October.

In addition to donating a total of 500 coats, the Adler Windows team will also:

• Collect coats from their employees, clients and vendors as part of the Adler Windows Coat Drive.

• Help their clients and vendors set up Coat Drives in their own offices.

• Collect coats from various locations around NYC and deliver them to the New York Cares sorting center.

• Volunteer at the New York Cares sorting center in December.

The Adler Windows Coat Drive will run from November 15th to December 31st. They are welcoming both new and old coats in all sizes.

“This is our way of ensuring that every New Yorker has the opportunity to stay warm, healthy and safe throughout the colder months,” said Adler.  “There are currently more than 60,000 homeless people in New York City, this includes 15,500 homeless families with 23,929 homeless children, sleeping each night in the city’s Municipal Shelter System. As the cold winter air creeps in help Adler Windows keep those less fortunate than us warm this year!”
