The REIT Center at the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate has unveiled this year's theme and morning speaker line-up for its 18th Annual REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) Symposium. The theme for this year's symposium is "The New Normal for REIT M&A." Hamid R. Moghadam, chairman and CEO of Prologis, Inc., will be the conference's keynote speaker.
NYU Schack's REIT Symposium, which will take place on Thursday, April 11th at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, offers a unique forum for sophisticated, high-level discussions among industry leaders.
James D. Kuhn, chairman of the NYU Schack Advisory Board and president of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, will welcome attendees, and NYU Schack Divisional Dean Rosemary Scanlon will present Moghadam with the Visionary Award.
The Symposium agenda includes eight panels over the course of the day, including the morning panels: "REIT M&A in the "New Normal;" "State of the REIT Capital Markets;" "A Conversation with Milton Cooper;" and "Non-Traded REITs."
"This year's event features an extraordinary group of speakers who represent the brightest minds in our industry," said Dean Scanlon. "Year after year, this conference gives participants the opportunity to hear from today's thought leaders and to learn about where the experts believe the market will head next and where the strongest sectors for investment may be."
Following Kuhn's welcome, Robin Panovka, partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, will give the opening remarks before the day's keynote address.
Keynote speaker Moghadam co-founded AMB Property Corporation in 1983. He led the company through its initial public offering in 1997 and its merger with ProLogis in 2011. He is a trustee and board member of the Urban Land Institute and a trustee of Stanford University and served as chairman of Stanford Management Company. Previously, he served as chairman of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) and the Real Estate Investment Trust Political Action Committee (REITPAC); was a director of Plum Creek Timber Company (NYSE: PCL); and a founding member of the Real Estate Roundtable.
