2023 Ones to Watch Rising Stars: Kara Fragola, Skanska USA Civil

Kara Fragola
Field Engineer
Skanska USA Civil

Number of years at firm: 5

One thing on my bucket list: Design and build an epic tree house

When I am not working, I am: Hanging out with my 3 dogs.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am currently spearheading the architectural scope of work on Skanska’s Croton-Harmon Shops and Yard Replacement project, a design-build contract valued at over $360 million. This project involves the demolishing of two outdated train maintenance structures built in the early 1900s and the construction of a new, modern-day 240,000 s/f facility, with the goal of ensuring that every aspect of the architecture scope runs smoothly and efficiently, while prioritizing the highest level of quality and safety. It is an honor to be a part of such an integral project for Metro-North that will bring commuters a world-class, modernized transportation structure.

What makes this nominee a RISING STAR?
“Kara’s commitment to supporting and elevating her fellow team and local community is inspiring, from founding Skanska Civil’s Northeast drone program to test innovative technologies on sites to volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens, providing students with guidance and resources to grow personally and professionally.” - Robert O’Neill, Project Executive and Chief of Staff at Skanska USA
