2023 Ones to Watch Rising Stars: John Libretti, Progress Capital

John Libretti
Managing Director
Progress Capital

Number of years at firm: 4

One thing on my bucket list: My goal is to own several luxury homes in resort destinations that I can rent for the majority of the year and also use as a vacation home when I want.

When I am not working, I am: either at the gym, getting together with friends and family or traveling to meet new people to explore opportunities for personal and professional growth.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? Last month, I closed my most challenging loan. My client was under contract to purchase a $25 million penthouse in the UES and was being penalized almost $10,000 daily for being past his contractual closing date. Within 15 days of getting the assignment, I closed a $16.2 million loan with a local bank and with an attractive 7-year fixed rate.

What makes this nominee a RISING STAR?
“John Libretti has the right mix of drive and persistence for success. John understands the value of networking, which creates new relationships. He is really good at finding creative solutions to difficult financing situations. Matching borrowers and lenders today is tricky, but John never quits until he finds his clients an acceptable option. John is frequently mentioned in industry related publications.” - Kathy Anderson, Founding Partner at Progress Capital
