Merritt Environmental Consulting Corp.

Merritt Environmental Consulting Corp. (MECC) was established in June of 2009 after being part of a larger engineering firm for almost 20 years. The focus of the company is to assist lending institutions, attorneys, real estate investors, and property owners with environmental concerns. Today, MECC has offices in New York, Florida, and Vermont and has grown into a regional consulting firm serving clients along the East Coast.

The primary services offered by MECC include Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Focused Sub-Surface Site Investigations, (Phase II Assessments). Both of which are designed to aid our clients in determining if a potential environmental impact may exist at a property. The data obtained from these services provide clients with valuable information in which to make informed business decisions. We typically conduct the phase one ESA site visit within a few days of engagement and can provide a summary of findings shortly thereafter. Our team works with the client to decide on the strategy and cost required to successfully evaluate the environmental concern. Many times this includes the collection of soil, groundwater, and/or air samples which helps provide the information required with completing the transaction.

Our mission is to educate our client base on the potential cost and liability that can be associated with environmental impacts. We accomplish this by providing great customer service and earning our client’s trust every day. Many clients that use MECC have trusted our team for over two decades. We understand the need to see real estate transactions completed and rise to that challenge every day. We respond quickly to our client’s needs and provide clear, concise reports. Our team of inspectors and geologists are familiar with every type of asset class, including industrial/manufacturing sites, multifamily buildings, professional office complexes, and retail shopping centers. MECC continues to grow into new markets serving our diverse client base.

In 2022, MECC purchased an office building and completed interior/exterior renovations in concert with the USGBC guidelines to obtain a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. In September of 2023, MECC was awarded a Gold designation for our efforts and now offer LEED services to our clients.

Chuck Merritt, LEED AP, is the president of Merritt Environmental Consulting Corp., Hauppauge, N.Y.
