TRO Jung|Brannen and SWBR selected for 600,000 s/f VA hospital

TRO Jung|Brannen in association with SWBR Architects of Rochester, was selected as architect/engineer for the VA Medical Center project. The assignment includes an outpatient care facility for primary and specialty clinics, a new facility to include 120 "green house" long-term care beds, 50 domiciliary beds including residential rehabilitation facilities, and clinical administrative support services. The total size of the assignment is 600,000 s/f. The project will involve freestanding new construction, infill construction and renovations and restorations to existing National Register eligible historic buildings. Stephen Evers, AIA, principal of TRO Jung|Brannen, will be principal-in-charge and his project team will include Brian McKenna, AIA, CSI, CCCA; Paul Fallon, AIA, LEED AP, and Dennis Stone, PE. The project team from SWBR will comprise of Thomas Gears, AIA; Mark Lyons, AIA, LEED AP; Robert Simonetti, AIA, LEED AP, and Mark Kluczynski, PE. In an evaluation of the team's presentation, the VA indicated that the factors that distinguished the TRO Jung|Brannen/SWBR team were the proposed design approach; commitment to sustainable design; the approach to estimating; a comprehensive adaptive re-use solution; and an overall passion for the project. "Our team showcases our passion for the project which will help the VA continue their efforts to provide the best possible care for veterans," said Evers.
