Thru the Lens: VVA Project Managers & Consultant's holds Annual HELP USA Toy Drive

VVA Project Managers & Consultant's Annual HELP USA Toy Drive took place on November 8th with a benefit at Tiro A Segno in Greenwich Village. The event was a huge success with more than 200 members of the real estate, design & construction industries in attendance, $25,000 raised, and hundreds of toys and supplies for victims of Sandy, collected. The Annual Toy Drive Benefit, which has grown steadily since VVA held the inaugural event in 2007, is held right before the start of the holidays so that toys and donations can brighten the season for families in need. "We are overjoyed that this toy drive & benefit continues to grow year after year, and that we had such a great turnout," said Ray Arnold, managing director of VVA. "We are blessed by the generosity that was displayed in the outpouring of toys and donations from the business community; and with the recovery effort from last month's storm still wreaking havoc on many NY families; the need is greater than ever this year." The benefit's sponsors include: Lane Office, Total Quality Fire and Security, WB Wood, Creative Office Pavilion, JRM Construction, and many more. In addition to a raffle chock full of great prizes, this year's event also featured a silent auction with great giveaways, including a week's stay in an apartment in central Rome, Italy; courtside Brooklyn Nets all access passes from Globe Moving; a long weekend stay at a ski house near Mount Snow ski resort, VT, from CheckMark Network; and a 44" LCD flat screen TV from TriTech. Lawrence Cann of HELP USA commented, "At any given time HELP has about 2,000 children under its roof, and the holidays are a lot happier for them given the efforts of VVA, as well as sponsors and other supporters, of the Annual Toy Drive." Until December 20, VVA's office at 117 E. 31st Street (between Park and Lexington Avenues) will be accepting unwrapped toy donations of new or used-in-good-condition toys for newborns up to children aged 18. All toys and funds donated will benefit children & families living in HELP USA's long-term homeless housing. VVA encourages companies who want to participate to host their own toy drives in-office, and send VVA their gathered toys for HELP USA. HELP USA provides permanent and transitional housing and supportive services to the homeless and people in need, many of whom are women and children, to become and remain self-reliant. The non-profit has multiple locations in the NY Tri-State area offering homelessness and HIV/AIDs prevention programs, as well as job training, domestic violence, mentoring, youth and veterans' services.
