Manhattan, NY The Pod Hotels has opened its flagship property, Pod Times Square. A BD Hotels property (The Mercer, The Marlton, The Bowery, The Maritime, The Greenwich), Pod Times Sq. becomes the fifth asset in the Pod Hotel collection following the uccess of Pod 51 and Pod 39; Pod BK, the first property in an outer-borough; and Pod DC, the first property outside of NYC. The innovative hotels’ proven micro-model boasts the highest percentage of occupancy across the entire BD Hotels portfolio. Pod Times Sq. will be the biggest Pod to date and will offer accommodations that are a first for the Pod Hotels brand: micro-apartments. 

New York, NY The new Statue of Liberty Museum has officially topped out in New York City, steps away from the statue on Liberty Island. Slated to open in 2019, the museum is designed by FXCollaborative Architects, exhibit and experience designers ESI Design, and DeSimone Consulting Engineers. 

South Bronx, NY Grand Concourse Academy (GCA) Charter School, an independent local education agency, started construction on a new school that will serve 800 students in a three-story, 50,000 s/f building. In honor of the milestone, the school held a ceremonial groundbreaking that was attended by students, parents, school leaders, and representatives from the Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund.

Brooklyn, NY Broadway Construction Group and RXR Realty has celebrated the topping out of 810 Fulton St., RXR’s 12-story, 393,000 s/f  residential and retail property in the Fort Greene section. The ceremony was held at the construction site and featured speeches from executives of Broadway Construction and RXR, followed by a celebratory luncheon at the adjacent 470 Vanderbilt Ave.

New York, NY According to Dattner Architects, Catherine Selby, AIA, LEED AP has been elevated to principal of the firm. 

New York, NY CNY Group has appointed Ruth Mitteldorf, CPA as chief financial officer. With 25 years of experience working in senior financial positions for real estate companies, in this newly-created position Mitteldorf will be reporting to and working with CNY president Ken Colao.  Among her multiple responsibilities are: banking relations, finance, executive oversight of accounting and assisting in the development of the next level of reporting and analytics necessary to support CNY’s growth.
