Suffolk hires Yun as project executive, healthcare business unit

New York, NY Suffolk has hired Julie Yun as a project executive in the Healthcare Business Unit (HBU) in New York, continuing the company’s growth and expansion of its operations in the New York Metro Region.

Yun will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and building of healthcare and life sciences construction projects, using technology and cutting-edge innovation to help clients in every phase of development and always keeping people in mind.

“Julie’s experience working in New York’s premier hospital systems gives her insight into the comprehensive needs of clients who are building 21st century facilities while maintaining top care for patients,” Joe Whalen, vice president of operations at Suffolk, said. “We want to build hospitals for all the different people who use them - family members in the waiting room, patients in operating suites, doctors and nurses who need space to save lives. Julie understands their needs and will leverage Suffolk’s technical expertise, innovative processes, and game-changing technology to deliver for them”

“Suffolk is an industry leader when it comes to using technology in building and that is exactly what institutions need when planning expansions and renovations,” said Yun. “New York needs state-of-the-art healthcare facilities and there are so many intricacies when building in these sensitive environments. It is not about building to build; it is about meeting the needs of many different people. I’m excited to work with Suffolk’s clients to make the right decisions for their institution’s growth.”

Prior to joining Suffolk, Yun led planning, design and construction at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital including overseeing construction of new ICU floors and renovation of offsite medical practices. She previously was senior project manager at Mount Sinai Health System and a project manager at NYU-Winthrop Hospital.

Yun also managed the architectural team for LaGuardia Airport’s Concourse G at Delta Air Lines Terminal C while at Group PMX and worked on the 2009 buildout of Goldman Sachs’ headquarters while at Structure Tone. She holds a Master of Engineering degree from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University.
