Standard Communities provides free COVID-19 protection kits and 6,000 meals

Manhattan, NY Standard Communities, the affordable housing division of Standard Companies, provided free COVID-19 protection kits and distributed 6,000 meals to residents of Standard affordable communities in the NYC metro area, including the Polyclinic Apartments in Midtown.

Nationwide, Standard provided free COVID-19 protection kits to 18,500 residents of its nearly 9,200 affordable apartment units across the U.S.

Standard employees volunteered to survey the residents’ needs and wants, and organized and delivered the COVID-19 protection kits which contained reusable face masks, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes. The meals were distributed in partnership with Citi and World Central Kitchen.

The COVID-19 protection kits were funded through the Standard + Foundation’s COVID-19 Resident Relief Fund.

“Standard places a high priority on the quality of life, safety and peace of mind of our residents during this challenging period. It’s important that we support them to ensure they have key items to protect themselves and their communities from COVID-19,” said Scott Alter, Principal and Co-Founder of Standard.

“We are finding ways to directly help segments of the community that are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jeff Jaeger, Principal and Co-Founder of Standard. He added “Standard actively leverages its expertise to work alongside – and in partnership with – public agencies and community partners to create strong and vibrant communities across the country.”

Standard’s commitment to successfully creating, preserving, and improving affordable housing has earned the firm many accolades. In addition to completing the largest tax-exempt bond-financed affordable housing transactions in the history of Illinois, California and Washington, D.C.,  Standard was recently recognized by Affordable Housing Finance as one of the Top 50 Affordable Housing Owners in the nation, and one of the Top 10 Firms Completing Substantial Rehabilitations of Affordable Housing.
