In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? Within the past year at LMJ I was promoted to assistant project manager and given the ability to grow with the firm. In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? One of the most exciting projects I recently completed was the conversion of an existing office building located at 730 Fifth Ave., to a new state-of-the art, luxury Aman Brand Hotel. What was a pivotal point in your career? I started my career working for the NYC District Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds as an auditor. After passing my NYS Certified Public Accountant exam I went to work in public accounting and later in the financial services industry. Which professional associations or organizations would you recommend to women who are starting out in the AEC industry? It’s extremely important to get involved with organizations such as NAWIC and WIRED which focus on empowering women in the industry. Women are naturally exceptional networkers and should be capitalizing on that innate ability.

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? I have been managing a project to procure the necessary construction permits for an interior fit-out and addition of an Orthopedic Center in midtown. In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? I led a team during construction of a $87 million core and shell office building through the well-known difficulties that COVID brought to our industry. What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? Most of my work focuses on healthcare infrastructure, which is in high demand for upgrading in its response to what is happening in our country; providing renovations and new infrastructure for pandemics such as COVID and Hurricane Sandy.2023 Women in Construction: Hongbo Wang, DeSimone Consulting Engineering
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? As the most senior woman structural leader at DeSimone Consulting Engineering, I am proud of our work at 1841 Broadway, a 27-story residential tower in Manhattan. DeSimone is the engineer of record and façade consultant for the project, we also performed special inspection services for the reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, and façade installation.
