What do you like best about being a woman in the AEC industry? As a woman, I like standing out in the male dominated AEC industry. Your confidence is challenged daily to only make you a stronger force in this industry. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow more confident each day.
What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? Each project is unique and special on its own. However, the project I feel most proud of is a 37-story luxury condominium ground up project in Jersey City NJ, which I did with Plaza Construction. I was part of the project from preconstruction through project closeout.
What is one of the most exciting developments or innovations impacting the AEC industry right now? Technology, specifically design and collaboration applications, are transforming the architectural industry - PlanGrid, Bluebeam and many others. We can quickly and efficiently translate our ideas, concepts and notes into formal designs without jeopardizing quality.
What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? I was honored to be recognized as a 2024 Construction Dive Construction Champion in the Mentor category. I’ve found immense fulfillment in spearheading the Construction Career Accelerator training program at my organization, where I positively impact lives through job placement and professional development opportunities.
What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? I am proud of co-chairing the Long Island Builder’s Institute marketing committee and creating the branding for the LIBI Women’s committee.
What is your favorite building in New York? The Met Breuer is one of my favorites for its unique presence in the urban fabric. Its bridge entry and sunken courtyard accentuate the building’s mass and provide a sense a passage from the city into another world. Originally the Whitney Museum of Art, the building’s ownership continues to evolve, proving its utility.
What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? My work with SGA at 95 Greene continues to stand out. Previously occupied by Merrill Lynch, the eight-story, 340,000 s/f building creates urban growth opportunity for dynamic pharmaceutical, green tech, ag-tech, healthcare, and medical tenants, helping meet the increasing demand for laboratory and research development space throughout the Tri-State area.
What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? I was a part of the design team and ran construction administration for the recently completed Northwell Health Brackett Addition at South Shore University Hospital in Long Island. This ground-up, four-story building, attached to the existing hospital, provides two floors of much needed patient space and hybrid operating rooms.
What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? I am proud of our local and regional senior housing relationships. We are working/have worked with every major provider in our area on their strategic planning and vision for repositioning not only their communities, but the senior living market.
