2023 Women in CRE: Margarette Lee, Youngwoo & Associates, LLC

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? In my 38 years as a real estate developer with over 50 properties developed, I think the most recently finished radio tower stands out to me as one of my proudest. Nothing like this was built in over 50 years in the area but we had the vision to make a catalyst project serving 2.5 million Latinos in New York City alone.

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? The recent sale of a corner mixed-use building at 65 Woodhull St. in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Despite uncertainty as a result of rising rates and legislative headwinds, by running a streamlined process we were able to create a competitive bidding process, ultimately receiving over 10 offers and transacting at a sale price equating to an in-place 4.3% cap rate.

2023 Women in CRE: Katelin Van Voorhis, RM Friedland

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? We all know the saying “time kills deals” and have felt the frustration of a good deal withering on the vine. Given the seemingly longer and longer deal cycles of the past couple years, I’m proud of a turn-key nail salon transaction where I secured above-asking rent and a signed lease less than 7 weeks from posting a “sneak peek” video.
