What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? With the courts scheduling more in-person court appearance, the intersection between virtual and in-person court appearances is one trend that has made a significant impact on lawyers, particularly those of us that practice in landlord-tenant court.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2022? My biggest accomplishment was at 27 years old, I ideated, built, and sold StratoDem Analytics for $24.4 million to Altus.

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? Increased interest rates have led many of my clients to rethink their business models and diversify into new areas.

What was your most important professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal or transaction in 2022? 2022 made its mark by bringing new life to development projects that stalled out during the 2008 recession.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2022?  The syndication of a 100+ unit Highrise building, with the contract signing in under two weeks. 

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? I believe that the impact of the pandemic on the office sector affected the commercial real estate industry the most this year.

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? In the race for tenants, premier developers are incorporating high design in properties.

What person, project, transaction, or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? The high demand for life sciences and biomed/tech space.

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? The expiration of the Affordable New York Housing Program (421a) will drastically diminish the industry’s ability to construct new rental housing and greatly exasperate the city’s housing affordability crisis, which ultimately affects New Yorkers of all income levels. 

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year?  The rising interest rate environment had the greatest impact on the commercial real estate market in 2022.

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? The federal Inflation Reduction Act and New York’s Local Law 97 incentivize greenhouse gas emission reductions.

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year? I have found that rising interest rates have increased pressure on building owners, investors, developers, and many other players in the industry.
