REPI of L.I. holds first in a series of lectures and training sessions

The Real Estate Practitioner's Institute of Long Island (REPI) at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University recently held the first in a groundbreaking series of lectures and training sessions on planning called The Land Use Program. The Land Use Program is envisioned as an advocate for sound planning, providing support to civic organizations; commentary on regionally significant projects; recommendations on community revitalization and information in the form of model codes, research and tools to benefit both public and commercial interests in regional development. The program is designed for policy makers, civic groups and commercial real estate professionals with the credit-bearing educational programs requiring the approvals of Long Island University as well as the New York State Education Department. The Real Estate Practitioner's Institute of Long Island is committed to development planning that discourages sprawl, supports diversity in housing development and land use policies and follows processes that are clear, transparent, responsive, inclusive and fair, according to John Gutleber, chairman of the board of directors of the Real Estate Practitioners Institute and CEO of Castagna Realty Co. The program is directed and instructed by Daniel Gulizio, a graduate of Colby College who holds an M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from Columbia University and a J.D. from St. John's University. He has served as the commissioner of the Town of Islip Department of Planning and Development and the Town of Brookhaven Department of Planning, Environment and Land Management. He is currently the Deputy Director of Planning for Suffolk County.
