REBNY library offers its members exclusive services

The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) offers its members the following services on an exclusive basis to help them make sound business decisions: The Real Estate Board Library contains professional journals, periodicals, and reports on industry topics. REBNY's library holds one of the largest such collections of any city trade association. The library also contains up-to-date computerized ownership and mortgage information files on all Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten Island properties, as well as assessed valuation listings and current property maps for every parcel in the city. Exclusive access to this invaluable fund of information is available free of charge to REBNY members who visit the library or at its website, www.rebny.com. For a modest fee, the board provides members with valuable customized reports from information contained in the database. REBNY's research department investigates and reports on issues of vital importance to the industry. The department has done definitive studies on such subjects as residential conversion trends and energy conservation techniques used in high-rise office buildings. The research department also publishes several important periodicals. The Cooperative Sales Report is one of the city's only quarterly and annual surveys of residential cooperative transactions. The board's Condominium and Townhouse Report is published on the same schedule. The biannual Retail Report examines store asking rents and related trends on Manhattan's major shopping corridors. The Statistical Profile, published in the Annual Banquet Journal, summarizes and interprets the year's economic and realty data. Other board publications include the REBNY Reporter, which takes our organization's efforts and accomplishments. The Annual Diary & Manual contains a directory of all board members and a wealth of reference material that can be used to solve a wide variety of business problems. The Diary & Manual is considered the industry's almanac. The REBNY Legal Line is a service which provides free legal advice from one of New York's leading experts in brokerage and real estate law to all REBNY members. The REBNY Listing Service (RLS) is a sharing of listings system available to all REBNY firms who are members of the Residential Brokerage Division and non-member firms that receive revenue from the sale or rental of residential property located in the jurisdictions authorized by the Residential Board of Directors. ResidentialNYC.com is a collection of exclusive sale and rental residential real estate listings available to the public through a website that is maintained through the partnership of REBNY and Trulia, Inc. All the exclusive listings shown on the site are brokered by participating members of the RLS which co-brokes on average 10,000 N.Y.C. listings a day. Each company participating in both the RLS and ResidentialNYC.com are held to a strict code of ethics and all brokers are licensed with the state. The Real Estate Board Services Desk sells (at a special discount to members) the standard REBNY commercial and residential lease forms which are used throughout the city (also available online), as well as the board's Standard Co-op and Condo Purchase Application Form, its Building Data Form and Standard Alteration Agreement (all available on disk), and the board's Annual Diary & Manual which contains a directory of all REBNY members and reference material that can be applied to solve many business problems. The Annual Diary & Manual is regarded as the industry's almanac. REBNY's continuing education programs for brokers and salespersons, and for applicants seeking those licenses are accredited by N.Y.'s Dept. of State. Courses are scheduled conveniently and priced reasonably for members who must satisfy the state's various education requirements. Arrangements can be made for taking instruction on-line. The classes, taught by industry leaders and senior government officials, give members a special perspective on important realty issues. REBNY members can improve their sales skills, learn about changes in laws and regulations, and acquire valuable information about real estate practice at board seminars. REBNY's members only website contains a directory of members and a calendar of upcoming events. The site's page offers exclusive access to our property and membership databases, or research Dept.'s reports, publications and bulletins, legislative and regulatory matters.
