First job outside of real estate: When I was 14 years old I took a summer job at Crust & Crumb Bakery in Long Beach Island, NJ. I was rehired the following summer and subsequently fired for eating too many elephant ears. I haven't touched one since.
First job in real estate or allied field: In high school I worked as a leasing agent for Marolda Properties renting out apartments in New York City.
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? I concentrate on selling multi-family, retail, hotel and office properties in New York City, specifically focusing on cultivating relationships and networking with as many people in the real estate business as possible.
How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate? I'm a family man. I spend most of my time out of the office with my wife, Lara, and our two children, Isabella and Liam. When my wife allows me, I try to get to the gym.
Favorite book or author: "The Hebrew Bible", specifically the Torah portion from my Bar Mitzvah, Vayeshev.
Favorite movie: "Trading Places" with Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd
Last song you downloaded? Pandora supplies me with my music. I admit to getting excited when Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' featuring Pharrell Williams comes on, so I should probably consider downloading it.
One word to describe your work environment: Empowering
Rules to live by in business:In business and in all aspects of life I say "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." At the end of a long day, I need to go to sleep with a clean conscience knowing that I set a good example for my children.
If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead) who would it be and where would you go?
My grandfather and namesake, David Scheer who died before I was born. I would invite him to dinner at my home to meet his great-grandchildren and share the story of my family's history.
What is your dream job? I love what I do right now.
