Prefi of CBRE wins REBNY On-Site Manager of the Year

According to CB Richard Ellis, Mike Prefi, a 20-year commercial real estate veteran, was the recipient of Real Estate Board of New York's (REBNY) On-Site Manager of the Year Award. The honor recognizes current and potential professional achievement as well as significant contributions to the firm's success as an on-site manager, a portfolio manager and a corporate management executive. "Mike Prefi has done a tremendous job over many years. This award is well-deserved, and honors the commitment and dedication he brings every day to serving his clients at the highest levels of professional excellence," said Paul Allegretti, CBRE's senior managing director of asset services. "On-Site Manager of the Year is quite a recognition. It's thrilling to see the industry reward Mike like this."   Prefi rejoined CBRE in 2007 as the senior real estate manager at Financial Sq. / 32 Old Slip, a 1.1 million s/f office property in Manhattan's Wall St. district that houses financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, American International Group, Mellon-Bank of New York and Daiwa USA, among others. He first began with CBRE when Insignia/ESG and CBRE merged in 2003. During that time, Prefi was the property manager for the MetLife Building at 200 Park Ave., a 2.8 million s/f building that sits above Grand Central. Prefi oversaw $70 million in base building capital improvements and administered major service contracts at 200 Park Ave. with an aggregate value in excess of $17 million. After September 11, 2001, he was involved in security improvements which included access control, surveillance, visitor registration and new turnstiles. Prefi started the assignment at 200 Park Ave. working with Shorenstein Realty Services from 1997 through 2001. Subsequently, Insignia/ESG was awarded the property management assignment and retained Prefi. As property manager with CBRE in 2005, Prefi and his team received the Pinnacle Award from the Building Owners and Manager's Association in the category of Operating Building of the Year. Throughout his career, Prefi has represented major Manhattan clients. From 2005 through 2007, he was the property manager of the 590,000 s/f 425 Park Ave., while working for Cushman & Wakefield. Before the MetLife assignment, he was the property manager for Walt Disney's 200,000 s/f headquarters at 500 Park Ave. Prior to that, Prefi was the assistant property manager for Viacom's headquarters at the 1.9 million s/f 1515 Broadway. The latter two assignments came while working for Compass Management & Leasing, Koeppel Tener Riguardi and Tishman Speyer Properties from 1988 to 1992. Prefi is a licensed real estate sales professional with a bachelor of science degree from Brooklyn College. He is a member of the Building Owners and Managers Association and holder of the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation.
