NYCREW to hold Leading Ladies event on April 28 at USB Financial; Next generation of families: Durst, Olshan, and Silverstein

NYCREW Network will continue its 10th anniversary celebration with an all-star panel discussion of the next generation of New York real estate at "Women Leading New York's Prominent Real Estate Families," to be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at the offices of UBS Financial Services, 1285 Avenue of the Americas. Part of the organization's Leading Ladies series, the panel will offer a view of how leaders are balancing their family legacies with the realities of today's business, discussed by Helena Durst, co-vice president of The Durst Org., Andrea Olshan, COO of Mall Properties Inc., and Lisa Silverstein, senior vice president of Silverstein Properties Inc. The panel will be moderated by NYCREW Network board member and director of communications Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group. "Real estate has long been a family affair in New York City - think of the great families in our history, including the LeFrak, Milstein, Rose, Rudin, Silverstein, Speyer and Trump dynasties among others," Consolo said. "Now more than ever, the women in the families are taking leadership roles." Durst is a fourth-generation member of The Durst Org., one of the city's oldest private owner/builder/managers. She participates in lease transactions, and recently instituted a comprehensive greening initiative of the company's building management operations. Olshan guides and directs the day-to-day functions of the MPI operating units, including leasing, property management and asset management, and establishes forward-looking strategic plans for the portfolio of properties. She also represents the company in its third-party investments, which include the "RCG Longview" series of debt and equity funds as well as the "Normandy Realty Partners" fund. Silverstein oversees all aspects of the firm's residential real estate and hotel portfolio, from deal evaluation, analysis and pre-development planning to construction, marketing, operations, sales and leasing. "Our speakers are a eclectic mix of residential, retail and office professionals," said NYCREW president Karen Dome, a senior associate of Marcus & Millichap. "I believe that we'll see a lively discussion when Helena, Andrea and Lisa meet and talk about how their legacies inform how they do business today." Attendees must register by 5:30 p.m. on April 25 to receive the advance registration rate of $75 for NYCREW members, $90 for CREW chapter members, $110 for nonmembers and $30 for graduate students. Onsite registration will be available for an additional $20.
