Monroe Roadways awarded contract for Miracle Field

MiracleFieldWebster, NY Monroe Roadways was awarded the contract for site and volunteer preparation of the Miracle Field, located at Ridge Park. Work includes a new softball field, clearing and demolition, new parking areas, and rough site grading for the wheelchair accessible complex. Work is underway, with completion of the entire development expected by spring, 2017.

“We are proud to team with Challenger Baseball and to be a part of this community-beneficial multipurpose facility,” said Monroe Roadways president, Jeff Taylor. “The adaptive wheel-chair accessible fields and playground will create so many more opportunities for kids.”

Challenger Miracle Field, specifically designed for individuals with physical and/or cognitive challenges, will be made with a rubberized surface that is fully wheelchair accessible. Bases and pitching mounds are painted onto the surface so that there are no raised obstacles and the dugouts are enlarged to accommodate wheelchairs and other apparatus. The Play with Possibilities Playground – the only one of its kind in Monroe County – will allow typically developing children to play alongside those with disabilities with full accessibility and sensory benefits to create a truly inclusive, ADA-approved play space. Adjacent to the field will be a pavilion, fully accessible ADA-compliant restrooms and concession stands. For more information, and to donate, please visit www.RochesterMiracleField.org.
