Meet the BMAR Member: Rubin Pikus

Rubin Pikus has been in the New York/Metropolitan Real Estate Market for the past 43 years, and has recently expanded to the New Jersey and Florida markets. His experience has been in the acquisition and management of income producing properties. The properties are residential in nature with multi-use commercial occupancies as well as commercial strip shopping centers. The business is a family business of Sharon Pikus, his wife, originated by her grandfather going back to the 1940's. Today the business is identified as Milbrook Properties Ltd. and Rubin is currently the CEO with Sharon as COO and their children as the operating members of the company. Members of the Milbrook operation are both sons-in-law, Charles Hirsch and Jeffrey Katz, as well as daughter Andrea Hirsch. Charles and Andrea have two children, Alex and Margot. His daughter Marcy Katz is a teacher of the physically and mentally challenged and has a master's degree in her field. She and Jeff have two children, Miles and Dalhia. The family business currently owns, operates and manages a portfolio in excess of 70 properties. Rubin is a graduate of Wesley College in Dover Delaware; further attended courses at American University in Washington D.C. and obtained an Appraiser's Certificate from the Columbia Society of Appraisers at Adelphi University. Rubin is an active member off CHIP (Community Housing Improvement Program Inc.) and a past VP and member of the Executive Board. He is also a member of the Bronx-Manhattan North Association of Realtors, an active member in the Rent Stabilization Association, an Associate Member of the American Society of Appraisers and Board Member of BRAB (Bronx Realty Advisory Board). In addition to the business affiliations Rubin has been involved in many community organizations: * 17 years Board Member, Shelter Rock Jewish Center * 5 years Board Member of Temple Beth Shalom as well as other sub-committees * Long Island Board of Jewish National Fund * Active with Long Island Board of Jewish Theological Seminary * 18 years active with the Long Island office of the Israel Bonds Organization (Current Chairman) * Co-Chair at Institute on the Holocaust at Touro Law Center * Board Member of Suffolk Association for Jewish Educational Services (SAJES) * Board Member of Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) His hobbies includes: Tennis, Golf, and collector of antique and exotic cars.
