Mayor Bloomberg honored at the NYHC and NHC 35th Annual Awards

At the New York Housing Conference (NYHC) and National Housing Conference (NHC) 35th Annual Awards Luncheon, mayor Michael Bloomberg was presented with a 10-ft. long scroll depicting the 82,688 affordable housing projects that have been created during his administration so far. Joining the mayor were, Robert Lehrman, luncheon committee chairman; Alan Wiener, Wachovia Securities; C.A. Hutton, New York Housing Conference; Shaun Donovan, commissioner, N.Y.C. Department of Housing Preservation and Development; and Michael Lappin, president & CEO, Community Preservation Corp. (CPC.) The mayor was the special guest and delivered remarks on the importance of affordable housing before 1,200 of the nation's influential figures in real estate, banking and community development. The event honored those who continue to create and preserve affordable housing in New York and nationwide. Founded in 1973, the NYHC represents a major non-profit and private affordable housing community. The regional affiliate of the National Housing Conference, the NYHC advances essential low and moderate-income housing programs locally and has gained enactment of major housing legislation at the federal, state and local levels. For 75 years, the nonprofit NHC has been the United Voice for Housing. A membership drawn from every industry segment forms the foundation for NHC's broad, nonpartisan advocacy for national policies and legislation that promote suitable housing in a safe, decent environment.
