New York, NY The Janus Property Company hosted the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association (YM/WREA) with a evening of tours, comments and reception with its principals at its Manhattanville Factory District. The Factory District is the largest privately-owned development in upper-Manhattan, encompassing four acres and over 1.1 million s/f. The District includes the newly completed 350,000 s/f Taystee Lab Building and 200,000 s/f Malt House, as well as the 150,000 s/f Mink Building, 50,000 s/f Sweets Building, 10,000 s/f Plowshares Coffee Roastery and Café, as well as several future development sites – all tied together as a unique master-planned, landscaped campus embedded in the context of the 125th St. arts and innovation corridor adjacent to Columbia University and City College.
The Mink Building is home to Renal Research Institute, Volastra Therapeutics, Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals, BioBus and HypotheKids; the Malt House will houses Communitas America’s new ”Heyground” social entrepreneur incubator; and the Sweets Building, boasts the Harlem Biospace incubator and Gluck+ architectural firm, among others.
The well-attended reception started in the Taystee Lab Building lobby designed by LevenBetts Architects with presentations and remarks by YM/WREA chairwoman Lauren Calandriello and former chairwoman Caroline Merck. Janus Property Company president, Scott Metzner, followed with an historical overview and explanation of the master-plan and qualities of the various buildings and landscaped connections and courtyards. Extended tours followed of the various buildings, floors, private terraces and courtyards, led by members of the Janus team and CBRE, Taystee’s exclusive broker. Guests experienced how quickly express trains or Ubers brought them to the District, as well as the District’s proximity to City College, Columbia University and all of 125th St.
Guests also enjoyed local refreshments - Harlem Hops co-owners Kim Harris and Kevin Bradford and their team provided local, craft and family-owned brewed beer on tap, and wine, and Sugar Hill Creamery co-owners Petrushka Bazin Larsen and Nick Larsen and their team had an array of their homemade ice cream and vegan sorbets.
After the event, Metzner, said “We always enjoy partnering with YM/WREA. Tonight’s successful social and professional event was just another great example of how hungry we all are to be back in person, to kick the bricks, exchange business cards and get back to business. The YM/WREA group has always been a great resource for the future leaders of our real estate community and we always enjoy working with them.”
