First American and Titlevest employees renovate senior center

According to First American Title Insurance Company, one of the leading providers of title insurance and settlement services and the largest subsidiary of First American Financial Corp., employees from it's agency division and from First American's subsidiary TitleVest have joined forces with Habitat for Humanity New York City to revitalize the Selfhelp Masepth Senior Center and renovate a vacant home. "Our employees all share a deep connection to New York and a passion for giving back, and we're proud of their work to support the community," said Brian Tormey, president, TitleVest. "As a supporter of Habitat for Humanity and as a leading title insurance agency, we understand the importance of a home and the critical role homes and homeownership play in the fabric of a healthy community." More than 34 employees will participate in two Habitat for Humanity projects as part of First American's Caring for Our Community initiative. On Wednesday, July 22, employees from First American Title and TitleVest will help brighten the Selfhelp Masepth Senior Center by painting the senior center lobby, offices and activity rooms as part of Habitat for Humanity New York City's Brush with Kindness program. Earlier in July, employees from First American Title and TitleVest helped revitalize a vacant home in Queens. The home is one of several vacant homes undergoing rehabilitation that were purchased by Habitat for Humanity New York City from the New York City Housing Authority for $1 each. "Corporate volunteers make a big impact on Habitat New York City's projects, their efforts allow our organization to reach more families in need. Thanks to the support of TitleVest and First American, families and communities in Queens will see their homes come back to life," said Alex Havriliak, acting CEO of Habitat for Humanity New York City. First American's Caring for Our Community initiative harnesses the company's long history of philanthropy and community service, a defining part of the company's legacy that dates back to 1889. The initiative focuses First American's philanthropic spirit and efforts on three core causes - community development, women's advocacy and human services. As part of the emphasis on community development, First American employees have participated in 38 Habitat for Humanity builds since January 2014.
