EW Howell Construction Group completes two senior living projects for Sunrise Senior Living

Sunrise of Huntington, 300 West Hills Road - Huntington Station, NY

Huntington Station, NY EW Howell Construction Group, one of the region’s leading education, retail, cultural, government and healthcare builders, has completed two new senior living facilities for the McLean, Va.-based Sunrise Senior Living, an owner and operator for over 35 years of more than 320 senior living facilities throughout the U.S., Canada, and United Kingdom.

Sunrise of Huntington, the 90-unit, 108-bed luxury senior community in Huntington Station opened at 300 West Hills Rd. and includes assisted living and memory care services that provide a supportive environment in a convenient location for families and friends who wish to be near aging loved ones. The two-story building houses a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Amenities include a wellness center, activity room and beauty salon, as well as Wi-Fi throughout. Activities available for residents focus on exercise, art, music, education, intergenerational mentoring, community service and spirituality. The Huntington property is Sunrise’s 11th on Long Island.

“There has been a significant increase in the number of senior assisted living projects planned for the Tri-State area, many carrying completion dates within the next two years,” said Kevin McKenna, a vice president at EW Howell who is overseeing the work for Sunrise. “Communities on Long Island and in New Jersey are desperately in need of quality living options that provide seniors with the proper level of care and offer their families a peace of mind. The locations of these new Sunrise communities will fill a growing demand for key markets.”

EW Howell also served as construction manager for Sunrise’s new $21 million, 70,000 s/f project at 26 River Rd., Summit, N.J., a steel and concrete structure which features 114 beds and lower-level parking.

According to McKenna, “Each building and property has its own unique layout that best fits the needs of the community and its residents.”

Senior living facilities serve thousands of families by providing traditional assisted living at its best—secure, pleasant and supportive. From assistance with basic activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing, to transportation and reminders to take medication, and providing more complex care, residents are given the help they need and the respect they deserve. Care is often personalized to meet the needs of each resident.
