Manhattan, NY Synergi, an award-winning international engineering, fabrication, and installation firm specializing in turnkey architectural stair systems, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of craftsmanship, innovation, and trusted partnerships that have transformed the company from a small Canadian startup into a global leader in architectural stair systems and specialty metalwork.
Since its founding in 1986, Synergi has evolved from ornamental metal fabrication specializing in brass and bronze into an international organization with operations across North America and the United Kingdom, building lasting relationships with leading architects, developers, contractors, and clients along the way.
“Forty years in business reflects the strength of the relationships we’ve built and the consistency of the work we’ve delivered,” said Jim Admiraal, chief revenue officer of Synergi. “What began as a very small company serving local clients has grown into a global organization through the commitment of our employees, the trust of our clients, and strong partnerships across the industry. Those relationships have allowed us to take on increasingly complex projects, expand into new markets, and continue building the capabilities that will support Synergi’s next chapter”.
Founded as Accent Brass in Winnipeg, Canada, the company expanded its capabilities over the following decades, evolving into Accent Architectural before rebranding as Synergi in 2015. The transition reflected the firm’s growing focus on engineered stair systems, integrated project delivery, and increasingly complex architectural projects.
Over the past four decades, Synergi has helped shape some of North America’s most notable commercial, workplace, and mixed-use developments, earning a reputation for engineering excellence, craftsmanship, and collaborative problem-solving. The firm’s work spans projects across North America and the United Kingdom, with a portfolio that includes marquee projects such as JBG Smith Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, Post Houston in Texas, Meta’s Hudson Yards offices in New York City, Google’s Borregas campus in California, JPMorgan Chase’s Austin offices, and Walmart’s new Home Office campus in Arkansas.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we’re equally focused on what comes next,” said Steven Elsdon, chief executive officer of Synergi. “The past 40 years have been defined by growth, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to our clients. As we look ahead, we’re continuing to build on that foundation through strategic investments, including the acquisition of Alpine, which strengthens our capabilities and broadens the expertise we bring to every project. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead and the role Synergi will continue to play in shaping the built environment.”
