What was the most challenging part of working during the pandemic?
The most challenging part of working during the pandemic was not being able to have those one-on-one meetings with my team. Despite the regular Zoom team meetings and the weekly virtual happy hours, we felt disconnected and believe that our collaboration and creativity was adversely impacted during that time. Thankfully, we have been able to work together in person since early July and we now feel energized with our creative juices flowing.

What was your most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2020?
Despite all the challenges that 2020 has brought, we have achieved some important milestones this year. We closed on our purchase of The Herald building in Washington, DC in the midst of a lockdown, we began our transformation of 545 Madison into another special hospitality-infused office product and we closed on a deal with Target at Cross County Center in Yonkers, which is the largest retail lease signed in NY since the start of the pandemic. It has been a great way to commemorate our 105th anniversary. It reminded us that innovating and improving is part of our company’s heritage.
