Braverman Greenspun promotes Peterson and Pakett

Manhattan, NY Braverman Greenspun P.C. has promoted Tracy Peterson to principal and Drew Pakett to partner.

“I’m still thankful for the day that Tracy joined us more than 17 years ago,” said Robert Braverman, managing partner of the firm. “She has been a vital part of Braverman Greenspun ever since, and her status as principal reflects the importance she holds to our firm and our clients.” Braverman and Scott Greenspun are the other principals at Braverman Greenspun.

Peterson is an advisor to condominium and cooperative boards, for many of which she serves as an outside general counsel in longstanding relationships that reflect the care and attention she gives to her clients. In addition to counseling boards on day-to-day issues, Peterson represents boards and individuals in litigation. She handles construction defect, alteration, and a variety of other disputes at the trial level, as well as much of the firm’s appellate work.

Peterson’s cases have resulted in numerous published opinions from the New York Supreme Court and New York appellate courts.

Pakett likewise provides general counsel services to boards, and represents boards and individuals in litigation. His practice also includes insurance defense litigation and professional liability matters. He recently secured a ruling from the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department in favor of an Upper East Side co-op in a dispute between the co-op and its commercial tenant over cold-water consumption in the commercial space.

Pakett joined the firm in 2013 following a clerkship in the Superior Court of New Jersey, and is the first lawyer to have spent his entire career in private practice at Braverman Greenspun before being elevated to partner.

“Tracy and Drew both put their clients’ interests first in everything they do,” said principal Scott Greenspun. “We’re extremely proud of Drew, our first homegrown partner, and Tracy, who is simply one of the best assets that a condo or co-op board can have.”

Peterson joined Braverman Greenspun in 2003, after four years in the New York State Office of the Attorney General, where she represented the Department of Health in litigation matters. She previously practiced as an associate at the international law firm McDermott Will & Emery, gaining experience in commercial litigation, internal investigations, and white-collar defense. She became a partner at Braverman Greenspun in 2013.

A member of the New York City Bar Association’s State Courts Committee, Peterson has been named a “Woman Worth Watching” by Profiles in Diversity Journal. She holds a B.A., cum laude, from the University of Vermont and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School.

Pakett holds a B.S., magna cum laude, from Pennsylvania State University, and a J.D. from Rutgers Law School.
