Avison Young names Alpert tri-state president and principal

New York, NY Dorothy Alpert is joining Avison Young as its new tri-state president and principal. Alpert joins Avison Young following a 30+ year career at Deloitte where she focused on strategy and operations consulting in the real estate industry, including leading the firms’ real estate services practice in the U.S. where she led significant client relationships.

“Dorothy’s unmatched background and decades of experience are perfectly aligned to our operational, talent platform and technology strategies as we strive to help all our clients realize the full potential of their real estate,” said Mark Rose, chair and CEO of Avison Young. “Dorothy’s knowledge of client relations, strategic planning, business development and process improvement will be an asset to our client-centric teams across the entire region as we transition to a data-led consultative approach to solutions and deliver economic, environmental and social value to our clients.”

Building on a foundation within business advisory and leading large-scale client relationships, Alpert brings experience leveraging technology to enhance client service capabilities.

This skill is a powerful addition as Avison Young continues to expand and invest in data and technology that delivers the insights clients need to achieve their goals.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining Avison Young in this phase of its growth as it makes investments in expanding its platform, delivering innovative technology solutions and bringing top talent to bear to achieve client goals,” said Alpert. “The people of Avison Young are amazing; in every conversation I’ve had, the firm’s distinct culture of collaboration comes through and I’m looking forward to all that we can accomplish together to benefit our clients and communities.”

As the co-founder of ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative, Dorothy is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the commercial real estate industry and her leadership in this space complements Avison Young’s focused advancement of women and underrepresented groups within the industry. The firm’s efforts were recently recognized by GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum Women of Influence awards in its inaugural 2021 Diversity Champion company category.

Alpert has been honored as one of Real Estate Forum’s Women in Influence: Legends, Real Estate Forum’s Women to Watch, and Real Estate New York’s Women of Influence. She holds an MBA from Fordham University and a BA in Mathematics from Bates College.

With Alpert’s appointment, Arthur Mirante will transition to the role of Chairman of the Tri-State region; in this leadership role, he will provide advisory support to Alpert and maintain key client relationships. Mitti Liebersohn continues as President and Managing Director of New York, and Jeff Heller, Sean Cahill and Ted Stratigos will continue to lead New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island as Managing Directors, respectively. These leaders will form a Tri-State Executive Committee along with top producers to support strategic growth in the region.
