What was the most rewarding project or deal you’ve worked on in the past 12 months, and why?
I negotiated a successful outcome for a unique property that plays a critical role in a municipal downtown district. After years under an IDA agreement, the property became fully taxable and faced a significant tax burden that threatened its viability. Despite the municipality’s firm valuation position, I leveraged relevant case law, valuation support, and strategic negotiations to achieve a reduction of more than 50% in the property’s assessment. The resulting tax savings allowed the client to continue operations while preserving an important contributor to the local economy.
What leadership lesson has made the greatest impact on your career?
I believe the most effective leadership comes from being both prepared and open-minded. I strive to approach every situation with a strong understanding of the relevant facts while remaining receptive to new perspectives and ideas. Some decisions require quick action and informed judgment, while others benefit from additional time and consideration. Balancing preparation with a willingness to listen and learn often leads to stronger decisions, better collaboration, and the most effective outcomes.
