What leadership lesson has made the greatest impact on your career?

The greatest leadership lesson I’ve learned is that leadership is built on communication, accountability, and trust — not just authority. Working alongside project managers, estimators, vendors, and internal teams has taught me the importance of being proactive, communicating financial information clearly, and addressing challenges before they become larger issues. Even without directly managing people, I’ve learned that taking ownership, following through on commitments, and being a dependable resource are qualities that earn trust and contribute to the success of every project.

What trend or change in commercial real estate do you believe will have the biggest impact over the next five years?

I believe technology and data-driven decision-making will have the greatest impact on commercial real estate. As projects become more complex and construction costs continue to rise, accurate financial reporting and real-time data will be essential. Automation, AI, and integrated financial systems will improve efficiency, strengthen forecasting, and support better business decisions while allowing finance teams to focus on strategic planning.

What advice would you give to the next generation of women entering commercial real estate?

Stay curious, ask questions, and have confidence in your abilities. Commercial real estate is a collaborative industry, and understanding how your role contributes to the bigger picture will help you grow. Build strong relationships, embrace new challenges, and never underestimate the value of being dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. Seek out mentors, continue growing professionally, and don’t be afraid to share your perspective.
