2023 Women in CRE: Julie Surago, Olive Tree Holdings

Julie Surago
Vice President of Special Projects
Olive Tree Holdings

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? I have been deeply involved in every step of the acquisition of 150 duplexes in Fayetteville, Arkansas through a portfolio arrangement. As we work towards uplifting the community, we have successfully sold 27 duplexes, a single-family home, and a condominium, with three duplexes and another condominium under contract. These homes offer residents the opportunity to buy an affordable property, making this effort highly rewarding.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? My grandparents inspire me the most. They raised me to be hard working and to lead with empathy and kindness.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Julie’s resilience, visionary leadership, community-centric approach and commitment to fostering diversity make her an embodiment of the ideals we aim to celebrate and propagate within the industry. As a leader of empathy, and an incredibly accomplished professional, Julie is an exemplary candidate for recognition in the Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight.” - Julia Shabshis, Communications & Digital Strategist at Olive Tree Holdings.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? Culture is the most important factor. One should ask if the firm has women in leadership positions and whether these women have a voice.
