Greece, NY Cornerstone Group, Ltd., New York State Homes and Community Renewal, Rochester Regional Health, Genesis Housing Development Corp., Rochester Housing Authority, local public and private sector partners broke ground for the Cornerstone Pointe Apartments, a 66-unit development for low income persons age 62 and older. The investment enhances Finger Lakes Forward, the region’s economic development initiative that is creating new opportunities for individuals and families, and revitalizing communities throughout the Finger Lakes.
The $14.3 million project is being financed through several HCR programs, including $7.7 million from the Housing Finance Agency, $6.25 million through the Housing Trust Fund Corporation’s Supportive Housing Opportunity Program (SHOP), $419,586 in federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits, syndicated by Raymond Jones Tax Credits Funds, Inc. and Citi. The Rochester Housing Authority will provide rental assistance.
The nearly 70,000 s/f complex is being built on a 4.4 acre site. The first floor will feature a manager’s office, supportive services office, sitting room, computer work stations, community room and patio. Seven units will be fully accessible and move-in ready for persons with mobility impairments featuring lowered counter tops and cabinets in kitchens and bathrooms and roll in showers. Three units will be built to accommodate persons with vision or hearing impairments, featuring horn/strobe light units, doorbells tied to chimes/lights and visually distinct electrical outlets and switches.
The neighborhood offers easy access to a variety of community services such as public transportation, retail shopping, pharmacy and health services and the Mall at Greece Ridge.
The development, adjacent to Long Pond Senior Housing and Greece Baptist Church near Ridge Rd., will be comprised of 66 one- and two-bedroom apartments for low income seniors. Half the units will be set aside for frail senior citizens enrolled in Medicaid. Rochester Regional Health and its affiliates will provide supportive services. Homes and Community Renewal Commissioner RuthAnne Visnauskas said, “Cornerstone Pointe Apartments is another concrete example of Governor Cuomo delivering on his commitment to providing more affordable and supportive housing, which complements his Finger Lakes Forward economic revitalization initiative. We are proud to combine our resources and our expertise with that of our private sector partners for a development that will provide a safe place for more than 60 senior New Yorkers to live independently as a vital part of the larger community in the Town of Greece.”

Our ElderONE “Program of All-inclusive Care of the Elderly (PACE)” will work with those individuals who identified as frail enough to need nursing home, but instead choose us to help them live at home. The comprehensive and coordinated services of ElderONE are a perfect match with Cornerstone Pointe Apartments as we combine senior living with health and supportive services. This nationally recognized program enables seniors to age in a place they call home.”
Construction is expected to be completed in early 2018 with occupancy to follow.
