Ten years ago, I was a seasoned broker and a managing director. Currently, I am principal of the firm Cassidy Turley due to the expansive experience I have gained over the past ten years. What single event professional or personal has most significantly impacted your career? Becoming the first woman partner in the firm has impacted my career in so many positive ways. What was the best decision that you made in the last year? Due to the economic downturn, I made the decision to go back to basics. By spending quality time with existing clients and finding ways to help these clients stabilize their business, I found that our relationships are stronger then ever. Also, I was sure to continue meeting new clients and developing those relationships. What award or recognition has been the most meaningful to you and why? Receiving the Young Real Estate Woman of the Year from the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association of New York. This organization was founded in 1945 and I became chairperson in 2004. I was only the third woman to chair the organization in the organization's history. What advice would you give to a woman just starting a career in your field? My first piece of advice would be to develop relationships with other women in the industry; my experience has show that women love to help other women in their careers. Secondly, there are many opportunities to add value to existing teams that do not have a woman on that team. Pick a team where you have a chance to add your unique perspective.
