Wilpon of AECOM joins the PWC board of directors, works as AECOM's director of education

According to Lenore Janis, president of Professional Women in Construction (PWC), Maria Wilpon, AIA associate, AECOM's director of education, has been welcomed to the board of directors of PWC. A trusted advisor in the higher education field, Wilpon heads the education market strategies for AECOM in the Americas. PWC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of women in the nontraditional fields of construction and such related areas as architecture, engineering and real estate development. Founded in 1980, PWC now has six chapters spread throughout the northeast from New England to Florida.
Janis said, "Maria is known and highly respected throughout the industry and in the higher education arena. Her quick mind, her immense experience and her commitment to helping emerging professionals make her the ideal PWC board member. We are delighted to have her join our dedicated team."

With a career that spans more than 25 years, her areas of expertise include helping and supporting colleges and universities to identify challenges and develop innovative and sustainable solutions to fiscal planning, campus wide and facility specific issues. An award-winning architect, she is a board member and council member of the Society of College and University Planning (SCUP), a member of The National Association College Universities Business Officers (NACUBO), Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), and the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Wilpon holds a Master of Architecture with honors from Pratt Institute and a Bachelor of Architecture, magna cum laude, from the University of Los Andes (Bogota, Colombia).
