VVA hosts annual HELP USA Toy Drive Benefit at Tiro a Segno

VVA Project Managers & Consultants hosted their annual HELP USA Toy Drive Benefit on November 15 at Tiro a Segno. The project management firm has already exceeded the number of donations they received last year for HELP USA, and the toy drive will continue for another month. HELP USA provides permanent and transitional housing and supportive services to the homeless and people in need, many of whom are women and children, to become and remain self-reliant. The non-profit has multiple locations in the NY Tri-State area offering homelessness and HIV/AIDs prevention programs; as well as job training, domestic violence, mentoring, youth and veterans' services. The annual Toy Drive Benefit, which has grown steadily since VVA held the inaugural event in 2007, is thrown right before the start of the holidays so that toys and donations can brighten the season for families in need. "This year we learned from HELP staff that one of their locations called to ask if the toy drive was happening again because they fear most of their 200 residents will be without anything this Christmas," said Ray Arnold, managing director of VVA. "We have already dropped off multiple truckloads of toys and thousands of dollars in donations to them, so we can confidently say that these 200 families, and others in the HELP program, will have a brighter Christmas." The evening's raffle prizes included club seats to Rangers games, a 46" LCD TV donated by TriTech, deluxe Godiva chocolate gift bags and boxes, and more. Major sponsors and underwriters included Lane Office & DIRTT, TriTech, Americon Construction, Miller Blaker, Sher-Del Transfer, Structuretone, WB Wood and TPG Architecture. VVA is still accepting toys and donations at their office. New and used toys in good condition can be delivered to 117 E. 31st St, NYC up until 4pm on December 15th, 2011.

Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
