van Laack commits to first retail location on Madison Ave.

Widely considered the clothier of choice for a discerning International clientele, van Laack, will be opening its first location in the U.S. on Madison Ave. The international retailer has committed to prime retail space at 340 Madison Ave. Average asking rents for retail space in the area range from $325 to $450 per s/f. Annette Healey of CB Richard Ellis's Retail Services negotiated the long-term lease on behalf of van Laack. Gene Spiegelman and Michael O'Neill of Cushman & Wakefield acted for the building ownership, Broadway Partners. The van Laack store will house a complete selection of merchandise including its world-famous men's shirting and accessories as well as the recently-launched women's wear line. Located one block from Grand Central Terminal, 340 Madison Ave. is a 22-story, 750,000 s/f office tower. The class A property was recently repositioned by the ownership through a multi-million renovation and capital improvement program.

What noteworthy transactions or deals from this year best exemplified key market trends or shifts? I would like to say there was an outstanding transaction for me this past year but 2024 was more a culmination of long-term relationships, most of which continued to transact. Deals were smaller in many cases but we saw robust leasing both on the agency side as well as on the tenant side.
