Brooklyn, NY Development firm Tankhouse and architecture firm SO-IL are collaborating to bring 9 Chapel, a new condo tower, to the corner of Chapel and Jay Sts.
The 14-story tower will be home to 27 residences spanning from one- to four-bedroom homes. Each home is designed like a corner unit, with at least two exposures and oversized picture windows. Homes feature exposed architectural concrete elements and custom butcher block-topped sculptural kitchen islands.
The exterior of the building is a perforated lightweight metal that creates a new focal point on the corner. Tankhouse and SO-IL have made outdoor space central to the design and circulation of 9 Chapel, following the success of their last project, 450 Warren. Within the residences are a mix of covered and uncovered private outdoor spaces, including loggias that function as outdoor rooms usable year-round.
Amenities include a fitness studio with floor-to-ceiling windows, shared lounge and dedicated bike storage into which residents can cycle directly from the building’s ramped entrance.
Construction is underway and sales will launch this fall. Tankhouse is partnering with GUBI to stage a forthcoming model residence and furnish the building’s amenity spaces.
