What do you like best about being a woman in the AEC industry? As a woman, I like standing out in the male dominated AEC industry. Your confidence is challenged daily to only make you a stronger force in this industry. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow more confident each day.

2024 Women in Construction: Darby Kline, DBI Projects

What is your favorite building in New York? The Met Breuer is one of my favorites for its unique presence in the urban fabric. Its bridge entry and sunken courtyard accentuate the building’s mass and provide a sense a passage from the city into another world. Originally the Whitney Museum of Art, the building’s ownership continues to evolve, proving its utility.

2024 Women in Construction: Caroline Bergin, SGA (Boston | New York)

What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? My work with SGA at 95 Greene continues to stand out. Previously occupied by Merrill Lynch, the eight-story, 340,000 s/f building creates urban growth opportunity for dynamic pharmaceutical, green tech, ag-tech, healthcare, and medical tenants, helping meet the increasing demand for laboratory and research development space throughout the Tri-State area.

What recent project, accomplishment or award are you most proud of? I was a part of the design team and ran construction administration for the recently completed Northwell Health Brackett Addition at South Shore University Hospital in Long Island. This ground-up, four-story building, attached to the existing hospital, provides two floors of much needed patient space and hybrid operating rooms.
