IKEA leases 88,500 s/f at Destiny USA

Syracuse, NY IKEA, the Swedish retailer, will open its very first location in Central and Upstate New York at Destiny USA!

Shoppers will soon have access to one of the most sought-after retail brands. IKEA decided to choose Destiny USA because of the center’s accessibility, traffic, and regional draw. Positioned at the crossroads of I-90 (the N.Y. State Thruway) and I-81, Destiny USA offers convenience for local shoppers and travelers.

Opening later this year, IKEA Syracuse will transform the 88,500 s/f former At Home space on the center’s west end. Guests will find IKEA’s signature showroom, marketplace, and the Swedish food experience – all under one roof. IKEA Syracuse will also feature a central planning area where customers design and order home furnishing solutions for spaces in the home such as kitchens, bedrooms, and restrooms with support from an IKEA team member.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that IKEA is coming to Destiny USA – its very first location in Upstate New York! Welcoming this iconic, globally loved brand is one of the most exciting moments in our company’s history, and we couldn’t be prouder,” said Stephen Congel, CEO of Pyramid. “A huge shoutout to the incredible teams at both Pyramid and IKEA for their hard work and determination in bringing this vision to life. This game-changing addition is yet another reason why Destiny USA continues to lead the way in shopping, dining, and entertainment across the region!”

IKEA isn’t just good news for Destiny USA, but for all of Syracuse and Onondaga County!

“Bringing IKEA to Destiny USA is an exciting opportunity for the City of Syracuse and the region,” said mayor Ben Walsh. “It signals continued investment in Destiny and aligns with our revitalization efforts in the Inner Harbor and Lakefront neighborhood. IKEA will attract visitors from all over the region, driving new business to the city and providing access to quality, affordable home furnishings right here in our community.”

Onondaga County executive Ryan McMahon said, “We are incredibly excited that IKEA will soon call Onondaga County home. The decision by the IKEA team to invest in our community further validates that the Onondaga County comeback is real!” McMahon said “The addition of IKEA is not only a huge win for the team at Destiny USA but also the burgeoning Inner Harbor neighborhood. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this announcement possible and we look forward to many more exciting announcements in the future.“

The addition of IKEA marks another bold step in Destiny USA’s ongoing evolution into a dynamic, all-in-one destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

The death of the generic offering memorandum: What buyers expect in 2025 - by Kimberly Zar Bloorian

There was a time when an offering memorandum (OM) was pretty bare bones, some photos, a few bullet points on income, and a rent roll thrown in at the back. That used to get the job done. Not anymore. In 2025, buyers are sharper, faster, and more selective. They’re looking
