Manhattan, NY On May 20, 2026, Roland, the well-known music brand from Japan, signed a 5 year lease with an additional 5 year option, to launch their first U.S. flagship retail and showroom space in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The new space, 414 West 14th St., will occupy the entire 3,779 s/f ground floor and the 3,740 s/f lower level for a total of 7,519 s/f. The grand opening is estimated to be October 10, 2026, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Roland Corp. was represented by Bona Bernard of Midtown Commercial Real Estate.

The landlord was represented by Michael Paster, Jenna Kestan, and Ariel Schuster of Newmark.

Roland is not planning to be an ordinary retail music store. They envision a major global retail and showroom experience in the Big Apple.

Roland is the global music electronic and software manufacturer from Japan who invented the famous TR-808 – the electronic drum machine that is the foundation of major hit records such as Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”, Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”, and many other famous songs in Hip-Hop, Rap, and Pop genres. Roland keyboards, drum set, drum machine, synthesizers, amplifiers and electric guitars are well known throughout both professional and amateur music circles.

“As a music lover, I am very psyched. We all focused really hard to plant Roland’s First flagship store in New York City in hopes of bringing Music Row back,” said Bernard.

Roland produces many technologically advanced electronic music products and having a Flagship Apple Store across the street made sense. Today, many musicians integrate their electronic music hardware with computer MIDI sequencing and digital audio editing software available from Apple.

Decades ago, “Music Row”, located on West 48th St. in Manhattan, was the legendary area for musicians to purchase musical instruments from stores like Manny’s Music, Alex Music, Rudy’s Music Shop, and Sam Ash. Times have changed, and Music Row has turned into mostly office buildings.

Roland’s investment in the Meat Packing District hopefully will re-invigorate the music in all of New York.
