Portelli of Highcap recommends keeping a positive attitude

During the last 10 years of your career, which professional accomplishment, honor or achievement has meant the most to you and why? Launching Highcap Group with my two partners was my greatest professional achievement thus far. Beginning a new venture three years ago during such a tumultuous market was a risk, but it was worthwhile. We geared up for a shift in the market and adjusted Highcap's overall approach to deals and hiring. We are thrilled with where we are today. What advice would you give to women just starting out in commercial real estate? Be innovative. Negotiating deals, deal structure and financing has become more complex over the past few years. Bringing creative ideas to a deal is what will set you apart from the rest and get the deal completed. How do you manage the work/life balance? Positive mental attitude! Exercise and yoga keep that in check. Where would you like to be 10 years from today? Highcap Group will continue to be a key contributor in the real estate industry. And, I would like to look back on my conversion and development deals and see that they are thriving and contributing to the ever changing landscape of NYC.
