Park Ave. Building and Roofing Supplies celebrates anniversary

To celebrate its first anniversary, Brooklyn's Park Ave. Building and Roofing Supplies held a week of activities from October 15-20 to thank its Brooklyn customers for a year of support. The company's flagship store, located at 2120 Atlantic Ave. in Ocean Hill-Brownsville, has scheduled a week of sales, free homeowner "how-to" classes, demos, and giveaways, culminating in an all-day event on October 20. "Everything we hoped would happen here, has happened," said Park Avenue's CEO, Bob Groeninger. The family-owned business opened its store a year ago on an under-utilized stretch of Atlantic Ave. Company founder, the late Gilbert Rivera, launched the location with the hope of creating a model of professional service and competitiveness in Ocean Hill-Brownsville. As planned, the store is setting an example for successful economic development. The week of events will offer consumers savings on name brand doors, windows, flooring, paint, and other building supplies. During the week, customers are invited to attend practical "how-to" classes in painting, plumbing, carpentry, and more. On October 17, experts from Benjamin Moore were on hand to demonstrate its newest paint products and show homeowners how to create their own "Faux finishes" and paint effects. "Throughout the year we've held 'how-to' seminars for the community with great response," Groeninger said. "Our anniversary week will continue this tradition. For example, October 15th was Millwork Day where factory experts answered all questions about doors and windows." Park Avenue's store was designed by the Rivera family to offer a personal and friendly alternative to the home supply super stores. Free homeowner classes will be offered at Park Avenue's Atlantic Ave. store, though both locations, Park Ave. also has a store at 525 Park Ave. in Bedford Stuyvesant, will offer all sale items.
